Rhyme happens when two or more words end in the same vowel sound or in the same vowel and consonant sounds. It's a matter of sound, not spelling.

Of course, nursery rhymes and American songs (pop and rock and rap and punk etc.) use rhyme and near rhyme! Using repeating sounds makes songs more catchy and dynamic etc. Check the lyrics (words) of the "Hey Diddle Diddle," Katy Perry, Frozen, Nirvana, and Public Enemy songs below, and you can hear many full rhymes and NEAR rhymes (not full or complete). Some pop/rock etc. songs have end rhyme patterns, usually AABBCC, etc., some don't.
